About the role

Lead the engineering surface that runs MWBE‑SDVOB compliance under New York -15‑A. AXI is the system of record for how state authorities, public universities, and primes meet their participation goals — and you'll own the code that makes it defensible: goal setting against NAICS/NIGP/CSI code books, GFE outreach and search reports, utilization tracking, the waiver wizard, and the validation layer that flags certification loss, Commercially Useful Function risk, and goal shortfalls before they reach the contracting authority.

What you’ll do

• Architect AXI's MWBE‑SDVOB compliance surface — goal setting, certified directory search, Utilization Plan / Utilization Report generation, and the waiver wizard.
• Design deterministic validations for Commercially Useful Function risk, certification loss, NAICS/NIGP/CSI scope misalignment, and goal shortfalls — flagged before a quarterly filing.
• Own integrations with the New York State Contract System (NYSCS) and the daily certified‑directory ingest (NYS MWBE, OGS SDVOB, NYC SBS, federal DBE, and dozens more).
• Translate Article 15‑A - 310–318, 5 NYCRR - 141, and SUNY Procedures 7557 / 7564 into testable code — alongside the AXI compliance team that runs this work every day.
• Lead a team of 3–4 engineers; set the bar on testing, code review, observability, and on‑call.

What we’re looking for

• 10+ years of software engineering, including 3+ as staff/lead on a customer‑facing platform.
• Strong Django/Python and Postgres background; comfortable architecting from data model to UI.
• Experience shipping in a regulated domain — supplier diversity, public‑sector procurement, government contracting, or comparable.
• A taste for boring, correct code in domains where the bug is the audit finding.

Nice to have

• Prior work against the New York State Contract System (NYSCS) or equivalent agency portals.
• Familiarity with NAICS, NIGP, or CSI code books and how programs use them to set scope.
• Experience replacing legacy B2GNow‑era systems or building atop their data exports.
• Public‑sector supplier diversity, MWBE/DBE/SDVOB, or -15‑A background.

Compensation & benefits
